Musk says SpaceX restricted Ukraine's Starlink connection as service restored
Elon Musk has said SpaceX slowed Starlink service in Ukraine, after Kyiv confirmed connection speeds are back to normal.

Elon Musk has said SpaceX slowed Starlink service in Ukraine, after Kyiv confirmed that connection speeds are finally back to normal. The admission follows more than a week in which front-line troops felt the slowdown.
During that period, Ukrainian forces reported lost drones and disrupted missions as speeds dropped. Musk says Ukraine used a civilian service for offensive drone strikes, breaking the rules, and that the loophole has now been closed.
Musk insists the military version of the system, Starshield, is controlled by the United States government, not by him personally. President Volodymyr Zelensky says speeds are now where they need to be, helping troops move supplies and stop Russian drone attacks.
The episode leaves an open question at the centre of modern warfare: who controls the internet when it becomes a weapon of war?
