Sydney's new $5bn airport has one big problem: Getting there is tough
Western Sydney International, the city's first airport to run around the clock, has opened for flights — but for some nearby residents, getting there still will not be quick, with the new metro line delayed for at least another year.

Western Sydney International has opened for flights, becoming the city's first commercial airport to operate around the clock, day and night.
The airport cost five billion dollars and was built to serve the west of the city, bringing air travel closer to home for many residents.
But living nearby does not necessarily mean a faster trip. For some locals, the journey to the new airport is still a long one.
The metro line meant to serve the airport is being built but has faced delays, and it will not be complete for at least another twelve months.
Residents were asked how long it would take them to get to the new airport — and the answers were not short. A brand-new airport, still a long way away.
